Hi, my name is Antonio and I am here to share a story with you.
My weight loss journey started more than 25+ years ago, I was just 16 and after being diagnosed with obesity-related health issues, I had to go on a diet. It was hard but successful. I remember I lost about 60 pounds (27kg) and I thought my issues were all solved but, I was completely wrong. My battles were just beginning.
From my first diet until 4 years ago, I don’t remember a period where I was completely free from dieting and food-related thoughts and problems. Gaining weight and losing weight, looking for a magic weight loss solution was my daily life. And when things start to be tough, food was my comfort. 25 years! Trust me, it was anything but fun.
As you can imagine, apart from the physical problems of being fat, I was also dealing with lots of emotional issues. Very low self-esteem, very poor self-image, shyness, and struggles in most of my relationships with others. The way I was mentally and physically was having a huge in every area of my life, until…
Was a Time for a Change…
At the end of 2013 (38), during my 1000th diet (or maybe more), I was almost hopeless and pretty sure of the fact that I was heading to another failure. Out of the blue, I decided to join a Taekwondo Martial Arts class in Stockport and that was the beginning of my life-changing journey.
Starting Martial Arts at a late age is more than just learning a few fancy moves and how to defend yourself, it’s more like a spiritual self-discovery journey and that was for me. Class by class I was discovering parts of me that I didn’t know existed, my self-esteem was improving, my physical aspect as well, but most importantly I was starting to accept and love myself slightly more, and for me was the biggest challenge ever.
I started to read books about Martial Arts and spirituality, it was a new world for me and a new way to approach life, it was an amazing discovery. I started to get highly interested in the art of personal development, more books, more video, workshop, seminars, I was improving myself mentally and without even realizing I was improving physically.
My eyes were open, my life was changing. I didn’t know exactly how or what, but something great was going to happen.
For the first time in my life, I was now focusing on my inner-self, my mind, and my inner world!
“If You Want Things To Be Different, You Need To Do Things Differently.”
By the end of 2014, while I was still working as a designer, I took the brave decision to invest time and money into a Life Coach Diploma and, it was the best decision of my life. In only one year I became successfully certified as Life Performance Coach and NLP Practitioner with The Coaching Academy
I began to apply coaching concepts and techniques in every area of my life, I started to approach myself and my relationship with food in a completely different way, with a completely upgraded mindset. Every day there was a new discovery and a new breakthrough.
Gain clarity is the key to weight loss success
Finally, what I was doing to myself for the past 25 years (good and bad) was much more clear to me. I started to understand that the solutions for all my mental and physical problems were not to be searched in my outer world, in the next diet, or in the next job, or in the next material possession, but, they were all inside my head, everything I was experiencing that I was not happy with, was only produced in my own mind. My body was full of fat, only because my mind was full of fat. It was full of rubbish that I needed to get rid of.
This big realization helped to start a life-changing inner journey that led me to lose 90 pounds (40kg) and to be in the best shape of my life not only physically, but also mentally.
I spent every single day of the last 4 years challenging myself in every possible way. I had to apply to myself all the theories that I thought were the solutions to my physical and mental problems and make them become tangible realities.
It’s a never-ending journey and every day there is a possible new challenge. Some days are amazing, and some days you have to be ready to fight hard battles, but my motto is “Aim every day to become better than how you were yesterday”.
I did it, you can do it too! Let’s have a chat and I will explain to you how!
